The article highlights the regional features of demographic development in the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation. The conclusions are based on actual statistical data published on the official websites. Based on the position that one of the medical and demographic problems of social development of the state is the death rate, the level of which depends on the socio-economic development, public welfare, development of health systems, access to health care, the authors found that in the Central Federal District there was the most significant reduction in mortality in the Smolensk, Kostroma and Yaroslavl regions.
