Abstract (English):
The originality of the Altai Republic is that it’s a border region, which is characterized by the interaction of various ethnic groups and religions. The aim of the study is to identify the threats to ethnic and religious conflicts. The article summarizes the data obtained as a result of mass surveys conducted in the summer of 2016 in the Altai Republic. The specificity of inter-ethnic situation is revealed. The problems that have a certain conflict potential are shown. The degree of life satisfaction of the population is analyzed. The reasons of the possible occurrence of international conflicts are determined and their potential subjects are marked. Also survey data allow us to characterize the features of the religious outlook of inhabitants of the Republic. In general, the above aspects allow to identify those factors that may determine a conflict region.
