In most cases, constituents of machines concern to elements of growing old type at which failure rate is monotone increasing function of operating time. One of few methods of control of this natural process of crystal ageing, along with reservation, is preventive maintenance as the reservation providing duplication of the most responsible elements of wood machines are used seldom. Preventive maintenance, on the contrary, expensive enough procedure, is rather sensitive to economic parametres of branch. In activity some strategies of control by technical condition of machines by determination of parametres of technical condition of an element and their comparison with limiting or admissible values of the given condition are offered.

Одним из немногих способов управления этим естественным процессом старения, наряду с резервированием, является профилактика, тем более, что ре¬зервирование, предусматривающее дублирование в конструкции машин их наиболее ответственных элементов в лесной технике используется редко, в ос¬новном в устройствах, ответственных за безопасность эксплуатации.
