Aktual'nost' problemy sortoispytaniya i gibridizacii topoley obuslovlena neobhodimost'yu vyvedeniya i otbora naibolee produktivnyh i ustoychivyh gibridov bystrorastuschih drevesnyh porod s cel'yu sozdaniya plantaciy bystrorastuschego lesa dlya pokrytiya postoyanno rastuschego deficita drevesiny v gustonaselennoy, no malolesnoy yugo-vostochnoy chasti evropeyskoy territorii Rossii. Osnovnye celi issledovaniy zaklyuchalis' v izuchenii rosta, ustoychivosti i produktivnosti mezhsekcionnyh gibridov topoley, poluchennyh ot kontroliruemyh skreschivaniy bal'zamicheskih topoley s chernymi i chernyh topoley s bal'zamicheskimi, v usloviyah Central'no-Chernozemnogo regiona lesostepnoy zony Rossii i v otbore luchshih iz nih. Ob'ektom issledovaniy yavlyalsya kollekcionno-ispytatel'nyy uchastok (populetum), sozdannyy v 1974 g. v Semilukskom lesnom pitomnike Voronezhskoy oblasti na tipichnom chernozeme steblevymi cherenkami pri razmeschenii 5×4 m. V ispytanie byli vvedeny 13 klonov. V rabote predstavleny rezul'taty 40-letnih issledovaniy dinamiki ih sohrannosti, rosta po vysote i diametru, ob'emu stvola i zapasam drevesiny, pozvolivshie vyyavit' naibolee perspektivnye gibridy topoley, kotorye predlozheny v assortimenty dlya sozdaniya naibolee bystrorastuschih i ustoychivyh plantacionnyh i zaschitnyh nasazhdeniy v regione issledovaniy. V perspektivnye assortimenty v usloviyah lesostepnoy i stepnoy zon CChR rekomendovany sleduyuschie mezhsekcionnye gibridy: ‘E.s.-38’ selekcii M.M. Veresina, sozdannyy v Voronezhskom LTI; ‘Berlinskiy’; ‘Gibrid № 10’ selekcii P.L. Bogdanova, vyvedennyy v Leningradskoy LTA; ‘Gibrid № 300’ selekcii I.A. Kazarceva, poluchennyy im vo VNIILMe i ‘Gibrid 3B’ selekcii A.M. Berezina, sozdannyy v Bashkirskoy LOS. K vozrastu kolichestvennoy spelosti drevesiny (25 let) ih sohrannost' sostavlyala 83-96 %, a zapas drevesiny – 462-641 m3/ga. K 40 godam ih ustoychivost' i produktivnost' ostavalis' dovol'no vysokimi (sohrannost' 63-96 %, zapas drevesiny – 417-764 m3/ga).
