The main task of the shipowner is to meet the needs of the charterer in organizing transportation by sea in a given range of cargo batches and dates of its preparation for shipment. Often, carriers are faced with the problem of the organization of the flight in ports with limited depth. The article presents possible options for organizing the entry of vessels with increased draught to ports with limited depths, the main stages of lightering operations, conceptual aspects of choosing a lightering area, the main safety requirements, as well as the feasibility of such operations in each particular voyage. As a justification for this, the article presents possible options for organizing the transportation of ammonium nitrate cargo in the direction of Rotterdam - Arkhangelsk (Bakaritsa terminal).
