Hie necessity of taking the hydrometeorological factors into consideration by ships navigating in the adverse weather conditions is stipulated in the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers [1]. In case of diminishing the significance of these factors as an important component for ensuring the safety of ships when navigating in the waters of Novorossiysk port in the adverse weather conditions it may result in the catastrophic consequences the description of which can be found in the relevant publications. Hie Paper analyses the effect of the Novorossiyskaya bora upon ships contributing to their sinking. It covers a description of sea and weather conditions while the bora is blowing as well as statistical data. Hie preliminary findings are made and the appropriate recommendations given.
