Hie article presents issues related to the identification of the main purpose of the logistics system. Challenges have been identified based on a systematic analysis of logistics processes in the port. Hie article discusses solutions for finding the optimum between the number of orders and stocks to improve the management of port handling equipment. The influence of modem technologies of warehousing which are relevant for port handling equipment on the organization of work in the port is considered.
