The linguocultural study of the terminological lexicon of the tattoo sphere is carried out in the aspect of comparison of German and Russian languages. The paper analyses the terminological lexicon on such topics as: names of tattoo styles, terms related to tools and techniques, terms describing the process of tattoo care. Differences in the mechanisms of terminology formation in Russian and German languages are revealed. In addition, the paper pays much attention to the cultural symbolism of tattoos in German and Russian, discusses the influence of globalisation in this sphere.
