ABSTRACT

This article addresses the pressing issue of developing international cooperation among Russian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the framework of the global "Belt and Road Initiative". The study aims to analyze and assess the opportunities and prospects for Russian SMEs' participation in international economic projects initiated by this program. The research employs methods of economic analysis, comparative analysis, and case study methodology. A significant focus is placed on examining specific cooperation models adapted to the operating conditions of SMEs in Russian and international contexts. The study identifies key factors that contribute to the successful interaction of Russian SMEs with foreign partners under the initiative, as well as outlines the main barriers and risks. Recommendations for improving institutional and infrastructural support for the international cooperation of SMEs are proposed. The findings of this study can be utilized in the development of strategies for the international development of Russian SMEs and serve as a methodological basis for further research in this area.
