This article examines the meaning of faith and revelation in the context of a fundamental change in the main approaches to the analysis of the phenomenon of being in modern philosophy and the transformation of scientific criteria. The authors agree with the justification of criticism of classical philosophy and complement it with additional arguments. In particular, the problems of classical idealistic ontology in the context of Christian-Platonic theistic synthesis are indicated. At the same time, the opinion is expressed that the path to rethinking European metaphysics may not follow the path of methodological atheism in phenomenology or postmodern negation. The authors propose a path that can be taken between the Scylla of the problematics of Christian-Platonic ontology and the Charybdis of Heideggerian “methodological atheism” through an original understanding of the category “givenness” in an ontological perspective. In conclusion, this issue is supplemented by the experience of justifying the significance of faith and revelation in the context of the criterion of falsifiability, which allows us to take a fresh look at both the path of classical religious metaphysics and the experiences of its critical rethinking in the 20th century.
