The article discusses the types and structure of the shadow economy, as well as its main causes and prerequisites for its emergence, offers basic recommendations for improving the legal framework of the Russian Federation, as well as the development of special measures aimed at eliminating the consequences of the shadow economy in order to ensure the economic security of the state. An assessment of the scale of the shadow sector of the economy in the Russian Federation has been made. The main factors of development of the shadow economy are identified and considered, as well as recommendations for combating them are presented.
