Light is one of the most significant categories of Orthodox Christianity, which tells eastern Christianity from the western one, is traditionally perceived as a mode of appearance of the Divinity in the world, as well as is understood as a condition and evidence of the fulfillment of deification. The article describes the basic provisions of interpretation of light by the hesychasm tradition that had a big influence on the formation of the Russian Orthodoxy and Russian culture.
