Несмотря на то, что исследования в области виртуальной реальности выглядят многообещающими, на первый план выходит ряд теоретических и практических проблем этой области. Улучшение отслеживания движений и графической составляющей виртуальных пространств, разработка методик нейрореабилитации в виртуальной реальности при конкретных нозологических формах заболеваний, продолжение изучения действия виртуальной реальности на головной мозг и зрительный анализатор, получение сертификатов безопасности и регистрация VR-систем в качестве устройства медицинского назначения - только малая часть предстоящей организационно-методической работы и научно-практических исследований.
