Objective: define the essence of the concept of «institute of the financial market» and justification of the institutional structure of the financial market in the modern conditions of its functioning. Methods: historical, theoretical generalization, analysis, induction, deduction, comparison. Results: based on the analysis of legislative and normative-legal acts regulating the functioning of the financial market of Ukraine, scientific literature deepened the economic definition of the essence of the concept of « institute of the financial market»; justify the composition of institutions of the financial market, revealed their hierarchical subordination and functional connections. Scientific novelty: in an article for the first time on the basis of the methods of grounded principles of subjective representation of the financial market through the positioning of any of its participants as an institution as well as to identify a single sector-level system of institutions of the financial market, which provides a distribution: the first level - institutions-sellers and institutions-buyers of financial resources; the second level - the institutions of the regulatory and supervision activities on the financial market; inter-layer sphere (area) - institutions of infrastructure of the financial market (the institutions of financial intermediation and the institutions of accounting, technical, informational, organizational security and insurance). This has allowed to specify, according to the classification of institutional sectors of the economy, the composition of institutions of the financial market, their sector-tier place, role and relationship. Practical significance: the main provisions and conclusions of the article can be used in scientific and teaching at the consideration of the efficiency of functioning of the financial market and its institutions.
