In this article the author considers the question of a publicism as concept and a literary genre, since sources of its emergence in the ancient antique societies, on the way of development and in a current state. Following the results of the analysis the author offers his own definition of the concept “publicism” and approach to its understanding wider, than in narrow literary criticism that most is suitable for research of publicism as kind of journalism which has not only a literary meaning, but also important public response.
