The article presents data from foreign studies of terrorism. The consequences of the terrorist acts of 2001 for the sphere of scientific support are considered. There is a significant intensification of scientific research, expressed in an increase in the number of scientific publications, thematic journals, specialized institutes. Attention is focused on the main directions of scientific research and scientific works, which to the greatest extent
