The article observes quantitative methods of analysis, regarding statistic-linguistic analysis as the most appropriate tool for the texts’ quantitative evaluation. The aim of the article is to study the usage peculiarities of the noun “fear” in Russian and German languages («страх», “die Angst”) and analyze the difficulties of their translation.This analysis was carried out on the basis of novel “Fear” (“die Angst”) by St. Zweig, where the concept “fear” plays crucial role for understanding the feelings and sufferings of the main female character.
